Iran is losing its war with Israel, Donald Trump has said, as Tehran’s state broadcaster was blown up live on air.

The US president, speaking as Iran came under intense bombing by Israeli forces, said Iran should enter negotiations on its nuclear programme “before it’s too late”.

“It’s painful for both parties, but I’d say Iran is not winning this war, and they should talk. And they should talk immediately, before it’s too late,” he said at the opening of the G7 in Canada.

His comments came as Israeli air strikes hit the Iranian state broadcaster IRIB in Tehran.

Israel Katz, the Israeli defence minister, confirmed the attack on the “propaganda and incitement broadcasting authority of the Iranian regime” in a statement, adding: “Strike the Iranian dictator everywhere”.
