National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) has urged the Karnataka government to provide interim relief and develop a regulatory framework for bike taxi services in the State.

In a formal representation to Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, the industry body called for an extension of the June 15 deadline imposed by the Karnataka High Court, which currently prohibits aggregator-based bike taxi operations in the absence of proper regulations.

The organisation warned of large-scale livelihood disruptions if services are abruptly halted and urged the state to begin a consultative process to formulate a balanced and inclusive regulatory policy.

Nasscom also cited successful models in states like Delhi, Telangana, and Rajasthan, offering to work with the Karnataka government to draft a future-ready policy that fosters innovation while ensuring safety and commuter convenience. In the representation, it has appealed for immediate intervention to safeguard the gig economy while ensuring long-term stability for tech-enabled mobility solutions.
