Police have ended their investigation into ex-Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and his left-wing ally John McDonnell, it was revealed today.

The MPs were called for interview after a pro-Palestine rally in central London at the beginning of this year.

But, speaking in the House of Commons on Friday, Mr McDonnell said Scotland Yard had now dropped the case.

The Metropolitan Police said nine people face no further action after a demonstration on January 18, but it did not confirm whether either politician was involved.

Mr McDonnell was Mr Corbyn's shadow chancellor when they were in charge of Labour. They both now sit as independent MPs.
