Public opinion surveys show a frightening picture. A study by Shay Hazkani and Tomer Sorek, who published their results in Haaretz last month, showed that 82 percent of the Jews in Israel support, to one degree or another, the idea of the expulsion of the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip. High percentages of Israelis, too, agreed with the concept that all the residents of a conquered city should be killed.
