Argentina will relocate its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in 2026, President Javier Milei announced during a speech to the Knesset on Wednesday.

"We want to honour the historic friendship that unites our peoples and strengthens the commercial and diplomatic ties between us," Milei was quoted as saying by Israeli media.

The Argentine president, a close ally of Israel, has been on a state visit to the country since Monday. One of the focal points of his visit to Israel is his receipt of the 2025 Genesis Prize.

Before addressing the Knesset, Milei met with the hostage families, including released hostage Yarden Bibas, who lost his children, Kfir and Ariel, and his wife, who were killed while in captivity.
