Prohibitory orders were imposed in parts of Maheshtala on the southern fringes of Kolkata on Wednesday after clashes erupted between two groups.

Several police personnel sustained injuries while trying to control the situation. A number of police vehicles were also set on fire by the mob, which was seen pelting stones at the police.
