Raising concerns over the persistent agrarian distress in Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena (UBT) on Wednesday (June 11, 2025) staged a tractor rally in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. The demonstration was organised to protest what the party termed the Mahayuti Government’s failure to deliver on key promises made to farmers, including crop loan waivers and enhanced financial assistance.
The protestors, led by the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve, raised slogans such as “kya hua tera vaada” (what happened to your promises?) while accusing the ruling alliance of reneging on its commitments made prior to the Assembly elections.
Speaking to journalists, Mr. Danve said that tehsil-wise tractor rallies were conducted across the district, demanding accountability from the State government. He cited the Mahayuti’s unfulfilled promises, including comprehensive crop insurance, provision of remunerative prices for agricultural produce, and raising the annual assistance under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi to ₹15,000.
“All the big and misleading promises were made by the BJP-led party during the Assembly elections last year to use farmers as vote banks, but after they won the election, they are evading responsibility, and they have forgotten all the big promises,” Mr. Danve said.
