Donald Trump and Gavin Newsom's war of words continues this morning with the president blasting 'incompetent' Newsom for failing to protect ICE agents from an 'out of control mob'.

Newsom, the Democrat Governor California, has repeatedly come under fire for his handling of the riots. The lawmaker and his fellow Democrats initially suggested that all was 'peaceful' as Los Angeles burned.

The chaos, which began Friday when anti-ICE protesters seized on a handful of police raids across the city, prompted Trump to take the extraordinary step of sending in troops, over the objection of the California governor.

Newsom has tried to control the narrative, blaming Trump and his federal agents for inciting violence, but suffered an embarrassing technology gaffe on Tuesday as tried to deliver a 'Major Address to Californians'.

Most political pundits believe Newsom will launch a run for the Democrat presidential nomination in 2028, with his handling of the ongoing riots seen as crucial to the success of any White House campaign.
