Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said Wednesday that he was hopeful the Italian economy can surpass the government's forecast that GDP will grow by 0.6% this year.
"I am confident that, with the easing of the conditions of uncertainty, the outlook for the Italian economy can improve," Giorgetti said at the presentation of the Parliamentary Budget Office's (UPB) Budget Policy Report.
"The growth estimate for the whole of 2025 set out in the DFP (economic blueprint) of 0.6% is totally achievable and, hopefully, surpassable".
He also said he hoped to see an agreement between the United States and the EU to avert President Donald Trump's tariffs being imposed on European goods.
"My hope, and that of the entire government, is that we reach an agreement on zero-for-zero duties," he said.
