Police arrested an actor on the set of hit TV show Rivals moments after he performed a scene for the highly-anticipated new series with Danny Dyer, it has been revealed.

Officers swooped on the grounds of Berkeley Castle, Gloucestershire, where TV extra Nigel Adams, 45, was hauled away in handcuffs by six cops in front of shocked cast members.

Adams had been performing a polo scene with former EastEnders star Dyer for the second series of the Disney+ show, which is an adaptation of the 1988 Jilly Cooper novel Rivals, on June 4.

But around an hour later, two police cars arrived at the scene and arrested Adams, who was still in costume, on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm.

The TV extra, also a supporting actor on BBC's Casualty and Doctor Who, is accused of attacking an ex-girlfriend at a house in Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset. Police were called to the address at 2am on May 31.
