MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. The United States is seriously intent on concluding a deal with Iran with the possibility of "approaching the needed result remaining," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said in an interview with TASS.
The senior diplomat emphasized that Russia is closely monitoring "indirect interaction between Iranian and American representatives." "The very fact of such communication is a serious shift in the general context of rather tense events around the Iranian nuclear program over the past years," he stated, noting that the previous administration vowed to return the US to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) but went back on its word.
"These days, we are noting Washington’s much more serious intent toward concluding a deal with Tehran on mutually acceptable terms, allowing to avoid a crisis, having removed suspicions and prejudices with regard to peaceful nuclear development in the Islamic Republic of Iran," he noted.
Ryabkov pointed out that Russia exerts active efforts on assisting in seeking a resolution between Washington and Tehran.
"We are keeping up our efforts aimed at assisting in the energetic search for the necessary negotiation solutions. We think that they are quite possible with due reliance on international law, the principle of equitable and indivisible security, as well as with the carefully calibrated balance of interests and gradual progress which will allow to boost trust by observing the agreements achieved. We would like to believe that both the US and Iran fully realize this," the senior diplomat noted.
