Actress Dawn French has 'unreservedly' apologised after she was accused by the relatives of the victims of Hamas of a 'smug dismissal' of their suffering.
The Vicar of Dibley star, 67, today took down the video she posted on X on Thursday in which she appeared to mimic Israel's supporters amid the war in Gaza.
However, Heidi Bachram, who lost two of her husband's cousin's immediate family on October 7, accused French of appearing to 'minimise or dismiss the severity and horror inflicted that terrible day.'
Now French has apologised, saying she clumsily used a 'mocking tone' and her intention was never to dismiss the horror of what happened on October 7.
She said: 'My intention was to mock and point the finger of shame at the behaviour of the cruel leaders on all sides of this atrocious war, who have continued to behave like the worst, dangerous sickening bullies and seem to relish the tyrannical and childish one-upmanship of violence.
