Five more Maoists were killed by security forces during an ongoing operation in the Indravati National Park area of Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, the police said on Saturday (June 7, 2025). The deaths took the total number of Maoists killed in the operation to seven, with top leaders Sudhakar and Bhaskar neutralised on June 5 and June 6 respectively. “Five bodies of Maoists have been recovered by security forces during the latest operations,” a senior police officer said. Of these, three bodies were found after the exchange of fire on the intervening night of Friday (June 6, 2025) and Saturday (June 7, 2025), while the bodies of two Moists were recovered following a gunfight on Saturday (June 7, 2025), the officer added.The operation launched on June 4 involves personnel from the Special Task Force (STF) and District Reserve Guard (DRG) of the Chhattisgarh Police as well as the Central Reserve Police Force’s specialised unit CoBRA.On June 5, Maoists’ central committee member Narasimha Chalam alias Sudhakar, who carried a bounty of ₹40 lakh in Chhattisgarh, was killed while Bhaskar alias Mailarapu Adellu, a special zonal committee (SZC) member of the Telangana State Committee (TSC) of Maoists with a reward of ₹45 lakh in two States — Chhattisgarh and Telangana — was killed on June 6. Of the five members whose killings were announced on Saturday (June 7, 2025), two were women, said the police while adding that their identification had not been carried out till the evening. A huge cache of arms and ammunition, including two AK-47 rifles, was seized during the operation, the officer added.Even as search and area-domination operations went on for the fourth day, a few security personnel suffered injuries due to snake bites, honey bee stings, dehydration and other operational issues.
