Tommy Robinson today appeared in court charged with harassment causing fear of violence against two Mail journalists.

The activist, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, entered pleas of not guilty and elected to have his trial heard by a jury at a crown court.

He was bailed to appear at London's Southwark Crown Court on July 3 for a preliminary hearing.

Robinson entered the dock of Westminster Magistrates' Court shortly after 10am for the 17-minute hearing. Wearing blue jeans, a beige Stone Island jacket and a cross-body bag, he gave his name as Stephen Lennon, saying it is not Yaxley-Lennon.

He is charged with two offences between August 5 and 7 last year. After a clerk read out the charges, Robinson, 42, replied 'not guilty' to both of them.
