Donald Trump apparently isn’t ready to address criticism from former so-called “first buddy” Elon Musk.

Well, not in public at least.

On Wednesday, a reporter asked the president for his response to Musk telling CBS he was disappointed that the Trump-backed, “one, big, beautiful bill” would increase the budget deficit and undermine the work of his unofficial Department of Government Efficiency, which aimed to slash public spending.

Trump responded:

“Well, the reaction is a lot of things. Number one, we have to get a lot of votes. We need to get a lot of support. And we have a lot of support. We had to get it through the House. We have no Democrats. If it’s up to the Democrats….”
