There have been 16 femicides in Italy since the start of the year, two up on the same period last year, according to figures issued after the murder of a 14-year-old by her ex boyfriend Wednesday.
Stabbed, strangled, hit with scissors or stones - the apparently endless massacre of women does not stop, many at the hands of husbands or ex-partners.
Since the beginning of the year, the victims of femicide in Italy are at least 16, of which six in the first two months of 2025 alone.
The latest femicide took place in the province of Naples where Martina Carbonaro was killed at just 14 years old by her ex-boyfriend who later confessed.
Among the other recent cases is the murder of Teodora Kamenova, a 47-year-old Bulgarian citizen, stabbed to death by her partner in Civitavecchia last May 15.
