A man has been charged with attempted murder after a police officer was critically wounded in a suspected hit-and-run.

Simranjit Kajla, 28, is accused of attempting to kill Thames Valley Police officer PC Christopher Miller following the incident in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire on May 22.

Kajla, of Slough, also faces charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.

He is due to appear before Reading Magistrates' Court today. Three other people arrested in connection with the crash remain under investigation.

A 38 year old from Slough, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, has been released on police bail until 23 August.
