Nelson Scott and Dinky Sherwood had a faint look of disappointment as they sat together on a wall overlooking the crowd at Wickham Horse Festival on Tuesday.

The Romany gypsy cousins have been attending the historic fair near Winchester, which has been held annually on March 20 since 1269, since they were two-years-old.

But the pair now feel the tradition is 'dying out' and will be erased in the next decade due to an influx of non-travellers - or, as they call them, 'gorja wannabes'.

They also bemoan the younger generation of travellers who 'can't be bothered' to carry it on.

Nelson, 78, told MailOnline: 'It's dying out because there's too many gorjas down here. All the Romany people are dying out.
