The bathtub the UK's most prolific hitman used to dismember six victims has gone on display.

Twisted serial killer John Childs, who is now in his late 80s and is serving a whole life tariff behind bars, claimed six lives from 1974 to 1978.

The East London killer charged £2,000 per victim - one of whom was a 10-year-old boy - and would lure in and shoot his victims before dumping their bodies in the bath in his flat in Poplar and dismembering them with a bread knife and hacksaw.

During Childs' trial in 1979, and after his conviction, the Daily Mail described the macabre use of the bath, as well as as attempts to feed the corpse of a victim through a mincing machine.

The very bath that is said to have been used by Childs is the latest display at The True Crime Museum, in Hastings.
