CNN’s Jake Tapper admitted Tuesday that he had personally apologized to Lara Trump for a combative interview in which he falsely accused her of mocking then-Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s stutter.

Tapper acknowledged his past comments had “aged poorly” while promoting “Original Sin” ― his new book with Axios’ Alex Thompson which details what they describe as former President Biden’s deterioration ― to conservative pundit Megyn Kelly on the latest episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show.”

Back in October 2020, Tapper confronted President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law after she had said months earlier about Biden: “Every time he comes on stage and they turn to him, I’m like, ‘Joe, can you get it out? Let’s get the words out.’”

Tapper told Lara Trump: “I think you were mocking his stutter.”

He also accused her of being unqualified to suggest any cognitive decline of Biden and ended the interview shortly after.
