A traumatized air traffic control worker says she refuses to fly out of Newark Liberty International Airport and warns that ongoing operation issues may soon cause dire crashes.

The anonymous 39-year-old controller, who works for the Philadelphia facility responsible for Newark flights, was the only person on duty during a harrowing system blackout that left planes unmonitored for 90 seconds on May 9.

On April 28, another power failure lasting a minute and a half sparked terror among controllers. On May 11, a similar incident unfolded, but backup systems kicked in that time.

She estimates there have been at least a dozen technological malfunctions within the last 10 months - including a two-second radio outage that occurred Tuesday around 11:35am.

Amid back-to-back radar mishaps, staffing shortages, and delays and cancelations at Newark (EWR), the jaded employee has went on leave to undergo a psych evaluation.
