Accountability for misbehaving men in positions of power is as rare as a system that actually holds them responsible. But occasionally, the winds of change blow. Last week, it felt like a tornado hit the entertainment world when a series of entertainers made headlines for facing the legal consequences of their alleged bad behavior.

First, Sean “Diddy” Combs, who was arrested and indicted last year on sex trafficking and racketeering charges, sat before a New York jury last Monday for the first week of testimonies in his high-profile criminal trial. Several witnesses, including his ex-partner Casandra “Cassie” Ventura — whose shocking 2023 lawsuit sparked a wave of disturbing allegations against Combs and ultimately led to his indictment — took the stand to detail her accusations against him, which ranged from orchestrating a sex trafficking ring to other vile alleged offenses.

Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges. If found guilty, he faces a potential life sentence.

Just two days after testimonies began in Combs’ trial, People reported that actor and singer Halle Bailey filed for a temporary restraining order against rapper DDG, her ex-boyfriend and the father of her child, after accusing him of multiple instances of physical and verbal abuse. She was also awarded temporary legal and physical custody of their 16-month-old son, Halo, pending a court hearing on June 4.
