A disabled 92-year-old who prodded a woman with a butter knife said he would take 'great pleasure' in stabbing care home staff before being Tasered, a court was told.
Alarm bells sounded at the Park Beck Residential Care Home in East Sussex after one-legged Donald Burgess flicked food at a worker on June 21 2022.
A series of events that took place within 83 seconds of two police officers arriving would see the pensioner hospitalised, dying 22 days later from contracting Covid-19.
It is alleged that PC Rachel Comotto, 35, assaulted Mr Burgess with her taser while her Sussex colleague PC Stephen Smith, 51, struck him with his baton and pepper spray.
The St Leonard's-on-Sea care home specialises in caring for people with dementia, though Mr Burgess was never diagnosed with the disease.
