Sir Keir Starmer today agreed to a 'youth experience' scheme with the EU that could allow thousands of 18 to 35-year-olds to come to Britain to live and work each year.
As part of his post-Brexit 'reset' deal with Brussels, the Prime Minister said his Labour Government would continue talks over relaxing visa rules.
EU member states had demanded a youth mobility scheme in exchange for Sir Keir's desire for closer defence and trade ties with the bloc.
Following a UK-EU summit in London this morning, it was announced that both sides would 'co-operate futher' on establishing such a scheme.
A document outlining the PM's deal said the UK and EU had agreed 'it is in the mutual interest to deepen our people-to-people ties, particularly for the younger generation'.
