A bank manager masqueraded as a police patrolman and pulled over a teenage girl with his car while drunkenly attempting to relive his days as a special constable.

Married father-of-two Kevin Hyland, 44, followed Charlotte Gallagher as she was taking relatives home at 1.30am before blocking her in with his BMW and asking to see her driving licence.

During the bizarre encounter Hyland falsely claimed to be 'Officer Hyland' and gave a fake badge number and told Miss Gallagher's father: ‘I am working for PACE. The driver indicated right but turned left.’

PACE is not a police department but is a reference to the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, a UK law that sets out the legal framework for police powers.

Police called to the scene by the Miss Gallagher’s suspicious family arrested Hyland – in reality a bank worker – and an initial breath test found he was more than twice the alcohol limit.
