Donald Trump's agriculture secretary has criticised Labour's family farms tax as a threat to national security.

Brooke Rollins warned that the policy could mean the UK would have to outsource its food supply to other countries.

Asked whether she was worried about Labour's policy of charging farms inheritance tax for the first time, she told GB News '100 per cent' and described it as a 'problem'.

She added: 'I think that anywhere in the world where you're increasing the cost of your input, increasing the cost of taxes, increasing the cost of the land, you're going to start closing your farms.

'And at that point you begin to outsource to… other partners in the world that maybe aren't the greatest partners for other reasons.'
