t is shortly before 3am and the New York Mets’ Jeff McNeil hits a line drive to Bryson Stott, the Philadelphia Phillies shortstop, to end a closely fought encounter in the tenth inning. In truth, it is actually only 10pm, but my day started some 20 hours previously and my body clock is stuck on UK time, tiredness the price to pay for trying to squeeze as much baseball into as short a time as possible.
