What is Build a Hooper?
Spin a real team-season, steal one rating off a player, do it 13 times. That's your hooper. Then it plays a full 82-game season and tells you whether the build actually holds up. Free, runs in the browser, no download.
How does the draft work?
Thirteen rounds. Each round drops a team on you — pick one player, take one of his ratings, and it's yours for good. You can't grab the same guy twice, and once a slot is filled it's locked. So no, you don't get to just take everyone's best number.
Classic vs Blind vs Chaos — which mode should I play?
Classic shows every number and hands you 3 rerolls, so start there. Blind hides the ratings and makes you go off who the player actually is. Chaos locks most of the skill board each round, so you take what you can get. Same season sim, very different nerves.
What is the best Build a Hooper build?
Depends on your position, and that's the whole game. Your overall is weighted — a point guard lives on handle and passing, a center on rebounding and rim protection. Chase a 99 in a stat your position barely counts and you just burned a round. The full weight table is on the attributes page.
Where do the player ratings come from?
Real season stats. We took what these guys actually did — how much they scored, where they shot from, boards, assists, the advanced numbers — and turned it into 13 ratings. That's why Jordan sits at 42 from three: he really shot that. No other version of this uses real data.
How many teams and players are in the game?
Dozens of them — current rosters plus rare classic Special team-seasons going back to the '80s, each with every player rated. You can browse the whole pool, ratings and all, in the team archive.
Is Build a Hooper free?
Yeah. Plays in the browser, no download, no account needed. You only log in if you want your runs on the global leaderboard and saved across your devices.
Is this an official NBA game?
No. It's a fan-made simulator, not affiliated with the NBA. Real player names and real stats, but no official logos, photos, or jerseys — those are all ours.
